Üdvözöljük Önt a Montreáli Magyar Történelmi Társaság honlapján! A Társaság 2006 júniusában alakult azzal a céllal, hogy kiállítást készít a montreáli magyar közösség történelméről, mely Montreál városházán kerülne bemutatásra és, amely a többségi francia és angol társadalom számára is érdekes és tanulságos lenne. A Társaság vezetői azonban hamar rájöttek arra, hogy hosszabb távon kell gondolkodniok és, hogy a szervezet mandátumához tartozik a helyi magyarság kultúrájának és örökségének megőrzése a későbbi generációk számára. A Társaság a következő feladatokkal kívánja célkitűzéseit megvalósítani:
- A helyi magyar intézményekkel és egyesületekkel kapcsolatos fényképek, valamint megjelent vagy kiadásra váró levéltári anyagok gyűjtése,
- Hivatásos történészek és levéltárosok által létrehozott levéltári gyűjtemény összeállítása a montreáli magyar közösségről,
3. Kétnyelvű (francia-angol) kiállítás, mely bemutatja a montreáli magyarság
történelmét a többségi társadalomnak.
4. Dokumentumfilm elkészítése, melyben a helyi magyar közösség idősebb
tagjaival készült interjúkat közvetítünk.
5. Könyv kiadása, melynek egyik része a magyar közösség történelméről
szól, a másik pedig azokat a magyarokat mutatja be, akik kimagasló tel-
jesítményt értek el Montreálban.
A Montreáli Magyar Történelmi Társaság nem-nyereséges közösségi szervezet, melynek bejegyzett neve: "La Société historique hongroise de
Montréal."

Welcome to the Montreal Hungarian Historical Society's website!
MHHS
was founded in June 2006 with the primary goal of creating a historical
exhibit at the
Montreal
City Hall
, aimed at presenting the history of the local Hungarian community to
the wider population. The Society, however, soon realized that its mandate
should extend beyond the organization of the exhibit and must also include
the preservation of the local Hungarian community's culture and heritage
for future generations.
MHHS
aims to accomplish its primary objectives by:
- The collection and digitalization
of photographs, as well as of published and unpublished archival documents,
that relate to the history of Hungarian organizations and institutions
in
Montreal
;
- The creation of a professionally
organized, archival collection for
Montreal
's Hungarian community, to be deposited at a public archive in
Canada
and an electronic version to be made available on our website;
- The creation of a bilingual
(French-English), comprehensive visual exhibit which will serve to
present the history of Montreal Hungarians to the wider public;
- The production of a documentary
film comprised of interviews with elderly members of the Hungarian
community;
- The publication of a book,
which will include both a history of the Hungarian community, as well
as the biographies of prominent Montreal Hungarians and their contributions
to this city.
The Montreal Hungarian Historical Society is a non-profit entity registered
under the name: La Société historique hongroise de Montréal. |
